The DWM Awards (Doctor Who Magazine Awards) were an annual set of awards, voted on by Doctor Who fans. The Awards began in 1981, and the main focus of the awards, each year has been the Season Survey , however in 1994, 2004 and 2014 (for the Doctor Who anniversaries), full surveys of every single Doctor Who story were undertaken. In addition other awards such as Best Doctor, Best Villain, Best Companion and Best Era have been handed out in these three anniversary years. Most years, as well as the Season Survey , awards for the latest season's Best Villain , Best Creature , Best Effects, Best Score and Best Set Design have been handed out.
In both 1986 and 2018, despite Doctor Who airing in those two years, the Awards did not take place, due to changes in the broadcast schedule of the concurrent season of Doctor Who , pushing the awards into the following year.
