Doctor Misterio was the second foreign adaptation of the BBC and CBS' long-running television series, Doctor Who. It was produced by TVE, in co-operation with BBC Studios and CBS Television Studios, and was first broadcast in Spain.
Despite being cancelled in 2020, the series was announced to be returning as a Paramount+ Original at ODWC 2021 for the Spanish and South American markets. Upon, Paramount+'s decision to launch in Spain as SkyShowtime, the series would be branded as a SkyShowtime Original Series, receiving its premiere there in Spain, while being distributed through Paramount+ in most international markets. In the UK, the series would continue to broadcast on BBC Four.
