David Banks portrayed the Cyber-Leader between 1982-1998. He also wrote the Season 35 story Iceberg
Biography
Prior to Doctor Who
Before working on Doctor Who, David Banks played roles in shows such as The Cuckoo Waltz, Keep It in the Family, Bret Maverick and Crazy Like a Fox. He also appeared in the TV Movies Some kind of Hero and Man of Letters.
Work on Doctor Who
Banks was chosen to voice the Cyber-Leader in the Season 19 story Earthshock. He continued to play the role in all subsequent stories featuring the Cybermen until Season 35's Iceberg.
Banks also played Karl in the stage production The Ultimate Adventure. As Jon Pertwee's understudy in the production, he played the Doctor for two performances when Pertwee fell ill.
He also wrote the Season 35 story Iceberg, which had initially been proposed for Season 23 back in 1986.
Banks made a return to the franchise in 2010 as a Cyberman in Doctor Who: Vengeance.
After Doctor Who
Banks continued to play characters in movies and TV shows such as Brookside, A Time to Dance, Eastenders, Canary Wharf, Desert Son, Doctors and The Evil Within.
