Erin Harrison (née Stevenson) was a 19-year old girl, from the Sussex town of East Grinstead, who the Doctor befriended on a trip to see the Queen's Silver Jubilee Celebrations in 1977. After the end of her first adventure, the Doctor invited her to become her travelling companion.

Erin was rebellious, with over-controlling parents, she became part of the anti-monarchistic, anti-authoritarian 'punk' movement, along with her boyfriend, Kyle, who was significantly older than her.

She left the TARDIS, after marrying Kyle, and settling down in 1865.
