The Ascension Begins was the sixth episode of Season 2 of Doctor Who: The New Renegade. It was written by John Shiban, directed by Marta Cunningham, and featured Anthony Head as the Doctor, Devika Parikh as Emma Lewis and Teddy Lane Jr. as Dustin Barnett.
Synopsis
The Ascension of the universe begins, as the Doctor takes control of the full force of his ascended status, moving from planet to planet, turning them all blue. However, something isn't right, the Vex know this, and it won't be long until the word gets back to the Doctor...

Release
- The Ascension Begins premiered on BBC One at 19:00 in the United Kingdom, two hours earlier than the rest of the show's episodes, due to the broadcast of the UEFA European Football Championship Final, which had England playing in, at the usual time the show was to be broadcast. The version broadcast at 19:00 was edited for a pre-watershed audience, with more adult lines removed from the episode. At 21:00, BBC Two broadcast the full uncut version of the episode. Due to the fact that the episode was release at it's usual time between 13:00 and 16:00 in the United States, on Paramount+, The Ascension Begins, was the first episode of the show to have premiered on BBC One, and not simultaneously with Paramount+.
