    Alan Wareing was a director who directed several Doctor Who stories with his first story being The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.

    Prior to his involvement in the Sylvester McCoy era, he was a Production Assistant on the Tom Baker story The Keeper of Traken.

    Prior to Doctor Who

    Alan Wareing's first TV credit was as an Assistant Floor Manager on the TV series Survivors. He then worked on episodes of other shows, including Blake's 7 and The Onedin Line

    Work on Doctor Who

    Wareing began working on Doctor Who as the Production Assistant on the Season 18 story The Keeper of Traken, he later served as the Production Manager on the Season 22 story Timelash. In 1988, he became the director of the Season 25 story The Greatest Show in the Galaxy. He then went on to direct three more Seventh Doctor stories and one Eighth Doctor story.

    Wareing also played the little girl God in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy; this role went uncredited.

    Wareing eventually returned to the show in 2006 to direct the Season 43 story Demons of the Past.

    After Doctor Who

    Wareing's most notable credits after Docor Who included episodes of Eastenders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street.
