Ian Briggs (born 31 October 1958) was a writer for Doctor Who.
He also created the character of the Seventh Doctor's companion Ace, who first appeared in Dragonfire.

Work on Doctor Who
Briggs wrote two serials for Doctor Who, Dragonfire, The Curse of Fenric and The Path Not Taken for the programme's 24th, 26th and 29th seasons respectively. The first two stories featured Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor, while the third featured Richard Griffiths as the Eighth Doctor. Dragonfire introduced Sophie Aldred as Ace. Briggs subsequently novelised all three serials.
After Doctor Who
Briggs went on to write episodes of Casualty and The Bill.
