The following article is written from an In Universe perspective.

Berendjen Visser was a school teacher from 21st Century Rotterdam and a companion of De Dokter.

    Biography

    Travels with the Dokter

In 2018, Berendjen taught Stijntje Meyer history at Boerderijschool, (NED: Het Vreemde Meisje) The odd gaps in Stijntje's knowledge and her knowledge of things she could not know intrigued Berendjen. Informing her colleague Evert de Vries of the strange girl, they began investigating and soon met a Police Officer who had seen Stijntje and her mother entering and exiting a junkyard where a mysterious Telefoon box was. The Police Officer led them to where Stijntje lived with her mother. Evert and Berendjin followed her into the junkyard where they found Stijntje and the Dokter battling a Raston Assassin Robot that was trying to destroy Earth. The two almost got in the way and nearly ruined the Dokter's plan to defeat the robot, but she managed to destroy it. Evert and Berendjen were then shown the inside of the TARDIS and were told the truth. Against Stijntje's wishes, the Dokter launched the TARDIS, kidnapping them so they couldn't tell anyone about them. (NEDHet Vreemde Meisje)

The Dokter took her two companions to the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire to see the human race at its zenith. Pretending to be management on the news broadcaster, Nerva Beacon, the Dokter and her companions found the Empire had been manipulated; its development stunted, and the technology being decades behind what it should have been. After hacking into the computer system, the Dokter, Berendjen and Stijnte found that the unusual levels of heat on the Station was because of cooling systems being vented to Floor 500The Editor, discovering their interference, gave the Dokter, Berendjen and Stijnte the key to reach him on Floor 500 and imprisoning them. He revealed the Mighty Jagrafess was manipulating the information distributed by Nerva Beacon to control humanity, even having them develop backwards technology to assist in this matter. The Jagrafess and the Editor tried stealing the TARDIS key from Evert, whom Stijnte had lent it to, but thanks to one of the workers who learned the truth, the safety was breached, freeing the Dokter, Berendjen, Stijnte and Evert and rerouting the heat to Floor 500 to destroy the Jagrafess. The Dokter believed that this would have accelerated the human race's development, "all back to normal". Upon finding out Evert was trying to learn about the future of the 26th century's technology for his own gain, the Dokter took his companions back to the TARDIS and threatened to take Evert back home. However, Berendjen and Stijnte convinced her to give him another chance and she forgave him. (NEDHet Lange Spel)

the TARDIS crew arrived in Antarctica and soon came across a mysterious pod. The TARDIS team found that the pod was Krynoid and had infected Christofell Winlett. Outside, they also found another pod and put it in the freezer. Before they could do anything for Winlett, he mutated further and became aggressive, going on a rampage.

Berendjen and Stijnte battled the Krynoids, a plant-like species who planned to conquer Earth. (NEDDe Kwade Planten

Due to Berendjen's inadvertent interference with the helmic regulator, the TARDIS returned to Space Station Nerva, 10,000 years after their last visit.  They found that the station was no longer a News station and that humans had been cryogenically suspended to await Earth's recovery from solar flares. There, they were pitted against the Wirrn.  (NEDHet Ruimtestation)

The Dokter and her companions arrived in 13th Century Holland. They soon discovered that modern-day scientists had been kidnapped by a Sontaran commander named Linx, and taken to Holland in the Middle Ages, where they were working under hypnosis to repair his crashed spaceship. Berendjen and Stijnte helped defend the Lord Egbert of Wessex's castle from Linx and the robber baron Kappel's men by throwing stink bombs at them, causing them to retreat. Sneaking inside Kappel's castle while posing as friars, Berendjen and Stijnte drugged the food at Kappel's castle to make everyone fall asleep while trying to stop Linx from launching his ship. Lord Egbert's archer, Hein, shot Linx in his probic vent with a bolt, killing him. As he died, Linx triggered the launch mechanism of his ship, resulting in a huge explosion as the rockets fired. Stijnte, Berendjen, Evert and the Dokter fled Irongron's castle before it was swallowed by the force of the liftoff blast.  (NEDTijd Krijger)

Evert, Berendjen and Stijntje were taken to watch the 3256 Intergalactic song festival on Tolia. After some investigating the TARDIS crew discovered that a race known as the Carrionites had hypnotised Servass and planned to escape the darkness via her song. After getting on to the main stage the Dokter managed to snap Servass out of her trance. The TARDIS team then defeated the Carrionites by singing Ding-A-Dong. After the contest ended the Dokter and her companions departed. (NEDRuimte Songfestival)

Upon their arrival on the planet Skaro, the Dokter, Stijnte, Evert and Berendjen were caught up in a war between the Kaleds and Thals, with the Dokter being taken prisoner by the Kaleds with Evert and Berendjen after being separated from Stijnte. While being questioned, the Dokter met a scientist named Davros, attempting to genetically engineer the Kaleds as the effects of their weapons caused them to mutate, seeking to evolve their mutations into a perfect form. Davros soon revealed his new creation which he named Dalek.

After escaping and reuniting with Stijnte and Berendjen, the Dokter and her companions assisted the Thals, in their attack on the Dalek city. Davros found his own creations usurping him. Because they were programmed to acknowledge any creature as inferior to the Dalek, they deemed him unworthy to rule them. Fleeing after the Daleks killed Davros, the Dokter buried them and their factory underground, preventing their plan to flood the planet with radiation. After departing the Dokter lost control of the TARDIS and informed her companions that the Time Lords had found her and Stijnte. (NEDDe Slechte Daleks)
