What if Doctor Who Wasn't Axed?

The following article is written from an Out of Universe perspective.

Inquisition was the third episode of Season 46 of Doctor Who. It was written by Ronald D. Moore, based upon Trust is a Lie written by David Bishop, directed by Gary Russell and featured Paterson Joseph as the Twelfth Doctor and Sophie Okonedo as Lizzie Clarke.

    Synopsis

The TARDIS is brought back to Gallifrey, as the Doctor is required to testify in court. Many years ago, the Doctor was sent on a mission to infiltrate the Yvacnosgi; an off the books group which supplied the Poplne in their war against the Bellonsions. The Doctor witnesses the death of a man known to him as Quilly and now his wife is out to uncover the truth of what happened to her husband. The Rogue has agreed to hold a trial and the whole fabric of Time Lord society is at stake.

    Background Information

    Development

    • To be added.

    Production

    • The newly recorded footage was the first to be filmed in this season, months in advance of the rest, during filming of the Series 2 Panopticon episode The Dice Has Been Cast. It was especially helpful as much of the main cast from the spin-off appeared in this episode as well.

    Reaction

    • This episode received a 7-Day Viewing Figure from BARB of 8.82m viewers. It ranked at 6th over the week.
    • Reception to this episode was overwhelmingly positive; some considering it as a fan-favourite, exclaiming that it explores the consequences of past adventures and gives viewers more insight into Trust Is A Lie.

    Story Notes

    • This marked the first story with more than one Doctor (with new material) not to be counted as a multi-Doctor story.

    Continuity

    • The story is a sequel to Trust is a Lie in which it featured 25% stock footage and 75% newly recorded footage. It was done to prevent a similar backlash to that of Season 39's The Name's Shakespeare William Shakespeare.
