Series 7 is the final series of Panopticon and aired in June and July 2013.
Overview
Setting Up the Future
Between Series 6 and Series 7 of Panopticon, It was announced that Showrunner and Executive Producer, Ronald D. Moore and Chief Staff Writer, Jane Espenson were going to be the showrunners of Doctor Who.
Knowing they were going to hold this position. Moore and Espenson decided to have Series 7 of Panopticon set up their era of the show with them introducing the Fourteenth Doctor (played by Samantha Bond) and set up a possible sequel series to Panopticon which eventually became The Elysium.
Creative Influences
Ronald D. Moore remained on as showrunner and an Executive Producer. And Ira Steven Behr and Faith Penhale remained on as the other Executive Producers.
Jane Espenson would remain on as Chief Staff Writer. But she would oversee the final series more than Moore did due to him planning out their era of Doctor Who.
David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, Michael Angeli, and John Dorney would all remain on as the show's Co-Executive Producers.
Cast Changes
The cast would be slightly different from Series 6. Will Adams (played by David Tennant) would still be the main character, But. This series would feature Series 1-4 Main Character, The Rogue (played by Timothy Dalton) and he would play a major role within the season. The other regulars this series would be Phaedra (played by Emma Caulfield), Zenla (played by Juliet Landau), Frances (played by Claire Bloom), Gordra (played by Graham McTavish), Rodan (played by Miranda Raison) and Belinda (played by Eleanor Matsurra).
Like the previous series, There would be pivotal characters to the plot of the series. But due to them not being in all episodes of the series, They were credited as a "Special Guest Star" in the opening credits. These characters would have been The Master (played by Jason Issacs) who appeared in Episodes 1, 2, 3, and 8. Gregori (played by Peter Capaldi) who appeared in Episode 6. And original Rogue Actor, Derek Jacobi would appear in Episodes 7 and 8. Who would play An Alternate Universe version of The Rogue.
Format Change
Due to the story of the series, Moore and Espenson decided to cut down the format from 10x60 Minute Episodes to 7x60 Minute Episodes with the eighth and final episode being 90 Minutes Long.
