Season 27 Of Doctor Who, ran between 8th September 1990 and 8th December 1990. It stared Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor, Sophie Aldred as Ace and Julia Sawalha as Katie Tollinger. It marked the final Season for Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. It was also the first Season to be produced by Stephen Garwood and Script edited by Ben Arronovich, and introduced Julia Sawalha as Katie Tollinger and John Banks as Sergent Benjamin Henrick.
Overview
This season consisted of four stories and fourteen twenty-five minute episodes. It was the first Season in the third part of Chapter Two.
Season Twenty-Seven featured the return of Angela Bruce as Brigadier Bambera, and the final Season for Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor. It also marked the final regular appearance of Ace and introduced two new companions, Katie Tollinger, a posh upper class cat burglar and Sergent Benjamin Henrick, a member of UNIT who was used by the Metatraxi and caused the Doctor to regenerate.
This Season was also notable for being the first since Season 17 not to be produced by John Nathan-Turner and introduced the new show runner Stephen Garwood and Script Editor Ben Arronovich.
This Season also introduced a new logo, a new variation of the theme music, a new TARDIS Console room and a new costume for the Seventh Doctor.
almost every story, (with the exception of Earth Aid) took place on Earth, much like the previous Season and most of the Pertwee era. This Season also featured a story arc, in each story there was a character played by John Banks. In Blood And Iron it's revealed that Henrick was used in a time travel experiment by the Metatraxi and this created echoes of him at various points in time.
